(see previous post) So I put that away for a while and decided to make something else. I love making little figures and I wanted to make something cute and cheerful. So, I went through my books and came across this darling little clown, who I named, ClaraBelle. She took me around two and a half hours to make and she sure did come out cute! Needle felting is something that I played around with a few years ago, then dropped. I couldn't find a local supplier of roving and it bugged me. I still haven't found one, but I did find a great source for fiber on the Internet. I would still rather purchase it locally, but what am I to do? My most favorite things to needle felt are Teddy Bears. I love Teddy Bears no matter what. Teddies, along with dolls, baking, books (both reading and writing) and of course crafting are my biggest passions. One word of caution....this craft is not for little one's. The needles that you use are extremely sharp. I can not tell you how many times I poked myself and had little drops of blood running down my fingers. Believe me, that is not fun! But it's awesome watching the roving take shape into something that you have envisioned. (and sometimes, something you have haven't) Sometimes the roving does have a mind of it's own and you end up making something that you were not planning, but ends up being just as awesome!

Another Shawl

I just finished another shawl. This one is done up in shades of violets and pinks. The colors are really pretty and it sure looks feminine. Gonna have to find someone to send it to. The last one I made went to a lady in Pennsylvania and I was told that she was overwhelmed, in a good way! So glad that I can do this! I've always, always wanted to reach out and provide comfort and a helping hand. If this is my way of doing that, I am truly blessed.

Winnie the Halloween Witch

I finally decided to get back into polymer clay. I love working with it, even though it is so time consuming. I love making little characters and I would love to learn how to sculpt more life like looking dolls. Winnie took me about 2 1/2 hours to make altogether. I think she came out quite cute and is now sitting in my crafting room. Not sure what I am going to do next. I'm thinking either a scarecrow for the Fall or a snowlady for the Winter.

Comfort Shawls.....I'm on a mission.

I don't know about any of you, but I absolutely hate seeing anyone suffer. One look into someone's pain filled eyes and their pain is mine. My heart aches and my breath leaves my throat. I immediately start to think, but what can I do? How can I help? I'm only one person and one person cannot change the whole world. Maybe I cannot change the whole world, especially not all at once, but maybe I can change it in little ways. And so I am going on a mission. Have you ever had a hug? I mean a hug filled with love, tenderness, caring, well wishes and with the hopes for a brighter future for you? Have you ever had strong, caring arms wrapped around you to give you comfort when none else could or would? Has anyone given you the comfort and support sometimes only a hug can? I know the hugs that I have received in my lifetime are some of the most womderful things that I have ever or will ever receive. And so I am on a mission. No, I do not intend on running around and hugging every single person that I see. In fact, I don't plan on hugging anyone (besides my wonderful famliy) But I do intend to make shawls. I call them comfort shawls. They will be made out of various yarns, and they will be filled with all of the love, warmth, caring, kindness and the very best of wishes that I can possibly put into them. And then I will be sending them out to anyone who is need of a hug. I hope the person who get's the shawl, when they drape it around their shoulders, that the shawl caresses them like a hug and they feel all of the caring emotions that I have put into their shawl and they are comforted by the knowledge that someone cares. It does not matter to me if I know the person or not, what matters is that they know that someone cares. That someone is hoping for the best for them. If I manage to give someone a bit of comfort somehow, my heart will be full and at peace. No, I might not be able to change the world, but maybe, just maybe, I can change it a little bit at a time.

Crazy about Crazy Quilts

I love history. It facinates me. I love thinking about others and how they lived their lives. What they looked liked and acted like. What they thought about and what they did throughout their days. I especially love historical crafts and I am so glad to see that so many of them are making a comback. I've always been facinated by Crazy Quilts. Can't you imagine a lovely lady, dressed in her finest, her scraps of fabric laying about her as she picks up her needle and thread and shows off her needle skills by creates something that will be beautiful and will last for generations to come? I'm no expert by any means, but I wanted to try my hand at the art of Crazy Quilting. And so here I go... For my first quilt, I am using mostly cottons, with many kinds of trimmings and embroideries. I have two blocks done and am worlking on my third. It's a lot of work and a lot of time (the crossed stitch patch of basket and flowers took me four hours to stitch) but I am really liking the way that the blocks are coming out. This is certainly a fun and explorative adventure for me. I will hopefully be posting the blocks as I finish them and will certainly post a pic of the finished quilt. When I get done with it, that is. :-)

Knitted Cowl

I've knitted many things over the years, but I have never knitted a cowl. A cowl is something like a scarf, only it loops around your neck rather then around and then down your body.
